Hi, we meet again!!! Now, we would like to share with you about some information regarding to Yahoo search engine.

Yahoo is one of the popular web search engine, owned by Yahoo! Inc company. It is a commercial website and the registration is optional to all visitors. Yahoo was launched at March 1, 1995. It uses multiple languange as it become one of the most popular search engine by various region in the world.

It was reported that Yahoo was the 2nd largest search engine on December 2009, last year on the web by query volume, at 6.29%, after its competitor Google at 85.35% and before Bing at 3.27%, according to Net applications.com.

Originally, Yahoo began as a web directory of other websites. It was organized in a hierarchy as opposed to a pages searchable index. In the late 1990s, Yahoo service enhanced or developed into a full-fledged portal with a search interface. By 2007, a limited version of selection based-search was launched.

Yahoo originally referred to as Yahoo! provided Search interface. It would send queries to a searchable index of pages supplemented with its directory of sites. The presentation of the results were showed up to the user under the Yahoo! brand. None of the actual web crawling and storage of data was done by Yahoo itself.

By 2001, the searchable index was powered by Inktomi and was powered by Google until 2004, when Yahoo became independent. Google search, Bing and Ask Search are the major competitors for Yahoo.
